Eligible Renters are identified as Faculty, staff, retirees, spouses & children, over 18 (living in same household) of Faculty, staff & retirees, Consultants & Contractors (retained and paid for by the University), and Graduate students on business. Proof of employment is required (MCard or letter from department head on University letterhead). This discount is not extended to those persons under 18 years of age.

Travelers between the age of 18-25 MUST choose the Flat Rate to rent from Avis. Travelers over the age of 25 have a choice of the flat rate or a discount off of the best rate available at the time of rental.

Discounts range between 5-25% for “Best Rate Available” program. There is a 5% discount off the lowest price offered for drivers 25 and over.

PCard is accepted for business use

Rates do not include additional surcharges, taxes or other applicable charges.

Insurance may be purchased at an additional cost.

Mileage charges:
Unlimited mileage at participating locations. Please inquire before booking.

Rates do not include insurance, fuel, upgrades, optional charges, taxes, fees or license and concession fees.

Ordering and Billing Information Pricing and contract terms are available through the Educational Institutional Cooperative Purchasing (E & I) contract. When using this contract for business purposes payment will be accepted via the University of Michigan PCard. When using the contract for personal use payment will be accepted via personal credit card. When booking refer to Account #A563100. Airport weekend rental is defined as one that originates between 1:00 PM Friday and 3:00 PM Sunday and is returned prior to 11:59 AM Monday. A $5.00 rate differential will be charged for all one-day rentals commencing on a Tuesday or Wednesday for all locations in the United States or Puerto Rico. Smoke Free Vehicles Effective October 1, 2009 100% of the vehicles in the Avis and Budget shared fleet will be 100% smoke-free. They have implemented a new inspection process and will assess a cleaning fee of up to $250.00 if the vehicle is returned and it smells of smoke.
