GREEN PURCHASING


For over 100 years the University of Michigan has studied ways to protect our natural resources and find effective solutions for environmental problems. Today, the University is a leader in educating faculty, staff, and students to be innovative and effective stewards of our environment, as it seeks sustainable initiatives that attempt to meet the needs of the present without compromising the environment for future generations.

The University of Michigan Procurement Services is dedicated to supporting sustainable initiatives through leveraging its buying power and supplier partnerships in order to "Make Blue Green." Green Purchasing refers to the acquisition of recycled content products, environmentally preferable products and services, bio-based products, energy and water efficient products, alternate fuel vehicles, products using renewable energy, and alternatives to hazardous or toxic chemicals.
